Steps in Filling a Temporary Position

Please review Chapter 7.6 of the Faculty and Staff Handbook as well as the Temporary Employment Administrative Policy for specific UW-River Falls policies pertaining to University Staff Temporary Employment.  

  • Contact Human Resources (Alexa Haines), 216 North Hall, 715-425-4746, to discuss vacancy.  Provide an expanded job description so the correct classification title, salary, etc. can be determined.   
  • Upon determination of the classification title, and continuity, the supervisor will submit the posting as the "Hiring Manager" in the on-line recruitment system (PeopleAdmin).   
  • Upon receiving all the necessary approvals in the on-line recruitment system, the HR Coordinator will discuss options with the supervisor.  Options are:
             o  approve for internal (when supervisor has specific candidate in mind)
             o  move forward with public posting
  • Supervisor will discuss hiring decision with HR, HR will offer position to candidate.
