Veterans Coordinator

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located 30 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul in scenic west central Wisconsin. Year around arts, cultural and recreational events are easily accessible.  UW-RF’s 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges:  Arts and Sciences; Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science; and Business and Economics. The Position:  
The UWRF Veterans Coordinator is a 75% appointment. This position provides leadership and serves as a resource offering expertise and support services for all on-campus student Veterans, students in active service, and/or their eligible student family members. Key responsibilities include the coordination of all veterans benefits, working with individual students while developing and maintaining collborative relationships with appropriate internal and external offices. The Coordinator is responsible for orientation and any other programs specific to this unique population and oversees the Veterans Services Office, including hiring and supervision of student employees. This position also serves in an advisory capacity to the Veteran campus service organization.

Qualifications (Required):    
Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Veteran’s services and programs and effective communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications (Preferred):
Experience working with Veterans and administering governmental program benefits and work with various government agencies. Experience in higher education, advising and/or counseling services. Mediation and/or conflict resolution skills. Supervisory experience. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University’s commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
