The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. Location:  This position is located in the Office of Human Resources at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Salary:  Starting annual salary is between $35,291 to $58,232 depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.  A six-month probationary period is required.  This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 and is not represented by a bargaining unit.  

Job Duties:  Under the general direction of the Human Resources Director, this position functions as an expert in a wide variety of complex human resources laws, regulations, policies and procedures and participates in the administration of all faculty, academic staff and administrator personnel actions for the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, including coordination of recruitment and selection processes; classification and compensation processes; employment relations processes and the interpretation and implementation of various federal, state and campus regulations and guidelines.  Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintains them over time. Maintains a high customer service orientation with the faculty and staff for which this position serves and with other coworkers in the Office of Human Resources and the greater campus community. Maintains confidentiality of personnel matters.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of modern human resources management methods and techniques; recruitment and selection principles; and complex human resources policies and procedures.  Knowledge of immigration law, visas, and the application process; skill in classification and compensation methodology; and administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management, managing files and records and designing forms.  Ability to perform conflict resolution and deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a positive manner; work independently with little supervisory guidance; provide input into the continuous improvement of all HR processes; use emerging technologies as determined by the supervisor; work as part of an administrative team; function as lead worker or direct the work flow of other employees; and balance initiative, consultation, and taking direction.  Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar and effective written and oral communication to accurately convey information.  Must have active listening skills and able to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.  Proficient in the use of word processing (preferably MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), database (preferably MS Access), e-mail, Internet and enterprise resource information systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft and effective organizational and task prioritization skills.  A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field is preferred.
