The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. Year-round arts, cultural, and recreational activities and events are easily accessible from River Falls. LOCATION:  There is one Police Officer vacancy at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  This list may be used to fill other vacancies that occur within the next 12 months.     

SALARY:  Starting salary is $19.951 per hour, plus excellent State of Wisconsin benefits.  This classification is in pay schedule/pay range 36-40 and is non-represented.  A 12-month probationary period is required.   

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  At the time of application, candidates must have successfully completed a Wisconsin Department of Justice "Law Enforcement Recruit" training course and be eligible for certification upon employment by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) as a Law Enforcement Officer or be a certified law enforcement officer in another state and eligible for certification by the Wisconsin LESB.   A valid Wisconsin driver's license and authorization to drive a University vehicle is required upon appointment.  

JOB DUTIES: Provide a full range of law enforcement services on campus, including enforcing laws, investigating complaints and incidents, taking appropriate enforcement action for violation of laws, maintaining order, assisting  people, identifying criminal activity, apprehending and arresting offenders, identifying the source of problems in the community and working with the community to resolve issues.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Position requires knowledge of appropriate law enforcement statutes, laws and administrative rules and regulations; proper methods of law enforcement and use of law enforcement tools obtained through training and certifications; knowledge of investigatory techniques and equipment; knowledge of law enforcement reporting and record keeping; excellent oral and written communication skills; and strong computer skills.
