The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located 30 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul in scenic west central Wisconsin.  Year around arts, cultural and recreational events are easily accessible.  UW-RF’s 6,900 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges:  Arts and Sciences; Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science; and Business and Economics. The Position/Responsibilities:

The Social Work Program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Compensation for this position is based on qualifications, including both education and experience.  The teaching load is 12 credits per semester. The position requires student advising as well as mentoring of undergraduate research and creative activities.  It requires committee work, as well as curriculum and professional development. The University expects active engagement in research, scholarly, or creative activity that supports its programs.  Candidates will be expected to teach Social Work Research, Macro Practice, and special topics courses suited to their experience and expertise.   As this is a small program, flexibility in the ability to teach a variety of courses is expected.  This position also includes supervising a portion of field placements.  Employment will begin in August 2012.

Qualifications:

  • Education:  An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is required.  A Ph.D. in social work or a related area may be considered an asset.   
  • At least 2 years supervised experience in professional social work practice is required (ACSW eligibility required for tenure).
  • Academic preparation or experience in areas of macro practice and flexibility to teach a variety of other social work courses is required.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education may be considered an asset.
  • Preparation and commitment to teaching BSW students with a variety of learner focused methodologies reflecting high impact teaching practices is required.
  • Skills in using a range of appropriate technologies to enhance teaching are required.
  • Demonstrated skills collaborating with persons from marginalized groups and facilitating the development of student/employee awareness and appreciation for the value of diversity and the worth of inclusivity are required.
