Request Contract Cancellation

Current Academic Year Housing Contract: If you are wanting to cancel your contract for the current academic year, you must meet the housing exemption criteria to do so. If you meet this criteria, contact your RA to go through the formal check-out process.

Future Housing Contract: All requests for contract cancellation for a future housing contract will be reviewed by the Department of Residence Life. If you do not meet the housing exemption criteria linked below, your contract cancellation request will be denied.

To cancel a future housing contract:

  1. Ensure that you meet the housing exemption criteria. If you don't, your request will be denied
  2. Log-into the Housing Contract Portal using your W# and W# password
  3. Enter the Housing contract for the correct academic term
  4. Click on "Submit Cancellation Request" located at the bottom of the menu bar on the left, then fill-in/submit all required information (this is only a REQUEST to cancel your contract)

Single Room Policy/Loss of Roommate

Medical and Disability Single Rooms - A very limited number of single rooms will be available to accommodate medical and disability circumstances. Requests for these singles must be submitted by February 1 with required documentation to the Disability Services Office.

The Disability Services Office will offer a recommendation and notify the Department of Residence Life. A limited number of accommodations are available if arrangements are secured prior to final housing assignments.

If a student residing in the residence halls loses a roommate during the year, he/she has the option to retain the room at the single room rate, only when space permits.

Extended Housing

We assign people to rooms in the order we received their housing contract agreement form and their housing deposit. At the beginning of each fall term we anticipate having over 100% occupancy. When all of our regular residence hall rooms are filled, we place those students who didn’t sign their housing contracts as early as other students into extended (temporary) housing.

There are two types of extended housing rooms: sharing a room with a resident assistant and converted lounges. A student will only be in extended housing until another space opens up and it is their turn to move (based on the date we receive the housing contract agreement form). We find that the majority of people placed in extended housing would like to remain in extended housing even when space opens up. We cannot accommodate this request as we need that space for other reasons, so they have to move.

Each extended housing room will have 3 sets of bunk beds, 6 dressers, a table & 6 chairs, 3 refrigerators, and 2 TV/computer boxes. Numbers may vary slightly. All extended housing spaces are equipped with cable TV and internet access. The rooms are located on regular residence hall floors adjacent to our permanent rooms and are securable with room keys issued to all occupants. Regardless of the length of stay, residence hall staff members remain available to provide the same levels of assistance, interest, and information-sharing that all other residents receive.
