Students who work for the Department of Residence Life reported improvement in several areas, such as leadership and communication skills by working as a team member. Students also report an increase in their ability to make sound decisions, their self-confidence and happiness, and a more informed global perspective regarding ideas, people, and cultures. Overall, a student’s connection to UWRF and satisfaction with their college experience is increased by working in Residence Life.

Hall Director (HD)

Hall Directors

HDs are full-time live-in staff members who oversee the operations, programs, staffing and community development of the residence halls through the supervision of resident assistants. HDs have offices located in the building and are a great resource for students who may need someone to talk to about their experiences with academics, their community, their resident assistant or other life events.

Resident Assistant (RA)

Resident Assistant

Each floor or wing has an RA, a live-in student staff member who is responsible for building community, offering programming and assisting students. RAs are very familiar with a wide variety of campus resources and can assist students.

Mail Center Assistant (MCA)Employment HMC Team

Mail Center Assistants are live-in student staff members who work at the Hathorn Mail Center. They assist with receiving, processing, and distributing packages and mail for residents.

Summer Resident Assistants (RAs)

SPAs

Summer RAs are undergraduate student staff who work directly with our summer residence hall operations, camps and conferences, preparing our halls for students and visitors, interacting with incoming students and families, and administrative responsibilities.

Hours: 35-40 hours of work per week (includes days, nights, and some weekends)

Custodial Staff

Student Custodians are student employees working in the residence halls on campus to assist permanent staff in providing basic custodial duties during the academic year.

Summer Student Custodians are truly the backbone of Residence Life summer operations. Join our professional team of Custodians to prepare campus for the coming fall, assist with summer camp maintenance, and more. Housing is available.
