Jesse H. Ames Suites (Ames Suites) opened in Fall 2012 and is the newest residence hall on the UWRF campus. It houses traditional sophomore students (anyone who has completed at least two semesters of college and has sophomore standing). Students living in this residence hall will have the benefits of living in a brand new facility that caters to the needs of second-year students in both design and programs offered. 

Ames is a green building and has been awarded the prestigious LEED-NC v2009 Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have 2 fall/spring semesters of college completed after high school graduation by move-in day and 24-59.9 cumulative credits.
  • -OR- Sophomore standing by move-in day (30-59.9 cumulative credits = Sophomore)

Learn MoreSecond-year students living in Ames Suites will be provided support as they pursue their educational goals so they can achieve academic success. 

Through programming and interactions with faculty and staff, students will learn how to effectively work with their advisor and participate in exploration of their chosen field of study.

Connect MoreEncouragement of student involvement in campus leadership opportunities and community events will enhance second-year students’ connection to UWRF. 

Students will actively develop as student leaders through participation in campus and community events, get to know their fellow community members, and learn to effectively navigate the campus policies and procedures.

Ames Suites will provide opportunities for second-year student to examine their personal values and beliefs through self-discovery and personal reflection.

Live MoreAs students enter into their second year, there will be opportunities for them to explore opportunities for career development so they can make informed decisions regarding future experiences.

Building Specifics

  • Four-story coed residence hall located on the east side of campus
  • Wireless internet is available throughout the building
  • Houses 240 sophomore students
  • Residents will be required to be on a meal plan
  • Academic year single and double housing rates apply to Jesse H. Ames Suites
  • Students will live in Pods that are made up of 3 clusters. Each pod:
    • Houses 22 students
    • Consists of 10 double and 2 single rooms
    • Shares common space with flat screen TV and furniture and kitchenette
    • Offers a scatter coed experience, where men and women reside as neighbors
    • Provides separate bathroom and shower facilities for men and women
  • Laundry facilities are located on all floors
  • Smaller kitchens with full oven ranges are available on the 2nd and 4th floors
  • Additional study space available on each floor
  • George R. Field South Fork Suites and Jesse H. Ames Suites are connected on 1st floor through the Ann Lydecker Living Learning Center. It has:
    • Two small multi-purpose rooms
    • A fireplace lounge
    • Large gathering place that can be broken up into three smaller rooms
