The Adapted Physical Education minor prepares educators to create movement and activity programs for people with disabilities. Students learn to modify, adapt, direct and test rudimentary movement processes. The program trains physical education teachers to provide adapted physical education for school children with disabilities in the least restrictive, most appropriate and most inclusive environments.

This certification is an add-on minor for the Health and Physical Education major as part of the baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate programs. It is not a stand-alone minor. Health and Physical Education Undergraduate Majors must complete PED 370 Adapted Physical Education Practicum PRIOR to student teaching. The majority of classes are offered in the daytime during the school year and the Adapted Physical Education Minor does not offer online classes. Classes must be taken on campus.
