During the academic year each student recipient must write a short one-page article for the ACG&MC newsletter or give a brief fifteen-minute presentation on some aspect of geology at an ACG&MC meeting.

Student must be an Applied Computer Systems major and must have satisfactorily completed his/her freshman year at UWRF. Student's overall and major area GPA, dedication and involvement in the computer field, and financial need will all be considered.

The scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in economics who has an overall grade point average (GPA) of not less than 3.0, a GPA greater than 3.0 in economics, and has completed not less than 60 semester credits with at least 12 of these in economics.

In even years (2012-13), the scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing the MC-EA, Middle Childhood through Early Adolescent teaching level (elementary education) who plans to teach 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Students who are pursing the early childhood major or minor do not qualify for this scholarship. Recipient must show evidence of having worked on behalf of one or more of the following: the elderly, the mentally or physically challenged, the homeless, the chemically dependent, or in church activities, mentoring programs, kinship program, Y programs, or environmental activities. Recipient of this scholarship must plan to receive his or her Bachelor's Degree within four (4) years.

In order for the scholarship to be renewed, recipients must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) each semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Health Education

Awarded to student admitted into the Teacher Education Program in a Health and Human Performance major with demonstrated involvement in co-curricular activities and/or community service.

Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Must demonstrate financial need. Must be a legal Wisconsin or Minnesota resident. Must demonstrate leadership ability. Must state any honors received and/or organizational memberships that support applicant's commitment to education. Must have letter of support from two instructors referencing the following: Leadership ability; activities the student has participated in relating to the teaching of their major; examples of observations of student's teaching quality; success potential within the field of education; a statement of the experience the writer has had with students in a classroom or elsewhere. Essay must address these questions: What factor has been the most influential in your decision to pursue secondary education as a career choice? How do you envision using technology in your major area within the classroom setting? In future years, we will experience many challenges in education. Briefly discuss a few key challenges and how you intend to successfully deal with these challenges.

Awarded to full time students who plan to teach mathematics using the following criteria: Must be admitted to the teacher education program and be seeking mathematics certification. Must be a deserving student and have demonstrated financial need. Must have demonstrated a past work history or experience working as a volunteer in their community.

Awarded to undergraduate students, excluding transfer students, using the following criteria: Must be majoring in Elementary Education. Must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program by the fall semester in which the scholarship is received AND have a minimum of four semesters remaining in the program. Scholarship will be renewed for three total semesters as long as the student remains in the major and maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Student must complete the essay section of the application, briefly explaining your leadership positions and activities in high school, college and in the community, and how this involvement led to an education major. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Communication Studies

Awarded to a junior or senior (including transfer) student majoring in Communication Studies. Student must demonstrate financial need. Preference for a non-traditional student.

Theatre

Awarded to a junior or senior Theatre major. Student must be a member of Alpha Psi Omega- lota BetaTheatre Honor Society. Preference given to a student who has interest in directing.

Social Work

Awarded to a junior or senior in good standing; Social Work major; minimum 2.5 GPA; and demonstrates financial need.
