Theme: Systematic Inquiry into Student Learning
The Evidence Based Teaching Fellows Program supports faculty members as they systematically inquire into a particular area of interest or concern with respect to teaching and learning. Initially, the coordinator will lead discussions centered around common readings related to teaching and learning. As the program progresses and with assistance from the coordinator, each instructor will begin searching the literature related to their particular teaching interest or concern.
Later meetings of the group will include brief presentations by each instructor outlining what they have learned and how they feel they might apply the literature in their own work. Eventually, each instructor will write up a brief literature review along with a plan for how they might incorporate some of what they have learned into their classes the following academic year (this report would be completed in June.)
*A member of the FASDB (OPID Faculty Representative) will serve in the role of Program Coordinator.
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to all faculty members and instructional academic staff members. Due to limited funding, we anticipate that up to five individuals will be selected to participate in this program.
A maximum of up to five faculty members will be selected to participate in the program. Each participant will receive $1,000 (paid July 1 after completion of the Final Report) to support the scholarly work of applicants. The Excellence in Teaching and Learning Series is funded by the Faculty and Academic Staff Development Board (FASDB).
Submit Your Proposal
Interested participants must submit a brief description of an issue related to teaching and learning that they would be like to investigate. The Faculty and Academic Staff Development Board will evaluate all proposals.
Schedule of Meetings
Specific dates will be identified when program participants have been identified. Meetings will occur monthly throughout the year (October-May, Final Project due in June).
Each participant is asked to share the findings of their project on the
Faculty and Academic Staff Development Board (FASDB) website.

Applications must be submitted in electronic format after the necessary signatures are obtained. A scanned copy must be attached to an e-mail and sent to FASDB by 4:30 p.m. on the due date. The e-mail subject line must include the grant title and last name of the applicant (example: ETL-Fischer). Applications that are not submitted following these directions will not be considered.
