12 and 15 Passenger Van Regulations

In order to stay compliant with policy changes made by the Department of Administration (DOA), the following 12-15 passenger van use guidelines are in effect. Please also refer to the updated State of Wisconsin Guidelines for 12-15 Passenger Vans.

  • No 12 or 15 passenger van travel beyond the State of Wisconsin or Minnesota is allowed through UWRF fleet.
  • Drivers must be at least 25 years old, no transporting of students under the age of 18, and no towing of trailers is allowed with state vehicles.
  • A training course is required for all 12 and/or 15 passenger travel.  This applies to both UWRF fleet vehicles that are 12 and/or 15 passenger in nature and include similar vehicles rented from Enterprise.
  • Training will be arranged through Facilities Management on a regular basis. Sessions will be provided as needed based on demand.  Individuals are encouraged to attend the training closest to their intended travel date. Class consists of on-line training plus 30 minutes behind the wheel as well as riding time.  Plan for two hours total time for the training.  Cost for training is $50 per person and is the responsibility of the Department.
  • NOTE:  Training is good for three years.
