Wireless Network Information

FalconAir logoThe UWRF wireless network is named FalconAir and is set up to be available in all academic buildings, including the Davee Library, Knowles Center, Hunt Arena and the Hudson Center.  Reception may be affected by building structure, so you may not be able to connect in some areas of each building.

Using the Wireless Network

Use your computer's built-in tools to connect to the "FalconAir" wireless network.  This procedure will vary depending on make and model of computer, as well as what computer operating system you are using.  If you need assistance, you can contact us.

To connect your gaming console to wireless, submit a request to DoTS.

Once you connect to the network, open your web browser. Regardless of what your homepage is set to, you will be directed to the FalconAir login page. Log in with your Falcon account (or assigned guest access account). Until you've logged in at the FalconAir authentication page, you will not be able to reach other websites or use other network services.

You will have to re-authenticate each semester to continue using the wireless network.

Campus Network Resources Available Via Wireless

Some network services are restricted over the wireless network to ensure usernames and passwords are securely transmitted.  Most notably, if you are using an e-mail client such as Thunderbird or Outlook, you will need to make sure that it is configured to use SSL options for sending and receiving e-mail.

Requesting a Wireless Guest Password

To support the need for guest lecturers and other individuals without Falcon Accounts who need access to the FalconAir wireless network in support of the UWRF mission, DoTS provides a guest password that changes weekly. University faculty and staff can request this password through eSIS.

The username for this account is rfguest. To obtain the password:

  1. Log into eSIS
  2. Use the following breadcrumbs:
UW-RF Network Resources >> Request Guest Password
  3. Enter a date occurring during the week access is needed. If the need for access spans multiple weeks, this process will need to be repeated for each calendar week as needed.
  4. Click [Display Password] to view the password for the date selected.
  5. Repeat if necessary.
