DoTS has converted the entire campus cable television system to digital
QAM system
Things you should know...
REQUIREMENT: A TV with a digital QAM tuner or a converter box that will tune a digital QAM signal. Most televisions manufactured since 2006 have a QAM tuner.
IMPORTANT: The television will need to scan for the new digital signals. Set the TV to "cable" NOT "antenna" when scanning for the channels. See your television’s instruction manual and on screen menu.
Not all TV's or converter boxes will scan and map the channels exactly as reflected in the TV guide.
Tech rooms that have a cable jack will have a computer featuring a USB converter that receives a digital TV signal. The computer will become the TV for the room and can be projected on a screen.
Staff, whose offices have a cable jack, will need to purchase a TV with a QAM tuner or buy a digital QAM converter for his or her computer or TV.
Students have been informed of this conversion since 2009 and have been told to bring a digital QAM tuner TV or a digital QAM converter if they wish to view cable television.
VCRs do not have QAM tuners so television programming recording will not be supported with these devices.
