Important Note about the CSAC Election:
The Classified Staff Advisory Council election has been completed. We are currently in the process of verifying nominees and will soon seat the council. Please watch for announcements via Classified Staff email list/Falcon Daily.
What is the Classified Staff Advisory Council (CSAC)?
As members of the classified staff at UW-River Falls we have the opportunity to participate in shaping decisions made by the governance groups and administration, a privilege not afforded to classified staff on all UW campuses. This is possible through the Classified Staff Advisory Council (CSAC). Created in 2011, CSAC promotes ongoing education, professional development activities and communication between classified employees and the broader University community. The Council members will serve as advisors to the Chancellor and other University administrators when decisions are being made that affect our campus. CSAC will also provide a forum for all classified staff employees (represented, non-represented, limited term-recurring, and project appointment) and for interactions with members of the University community, including faculty, staff, and students.
In recent months a committee has been laying the groundwork for the council and is currently at the point of electing members to CSAC.
Representation is needed from the following classified constituency groups:
1 – Law Enforcement and Security
1 – Crafts/Technical
2 - Blue Collar (BC)
2 - Administrative Support (AS)
1 – Classified Supervisors and Human Resources
1 – Fiscal and Staff Services
1 – LTE (recurring only)
Elected members will serve a three year term beginning in June. Release time is granted by the Chancellor. For more information about CSAC membership and terms of service, see CSAC bylaws.
Nominations are currently being accepted for CSAC.
If you are a permanent member of the classified staff belonging to one of these constituency groups, we encourage you to nominate yourself. Of course, any member of the classified staff can nominate others as well. Please send your nominations (self or other) to csac@uwrf.edu indicating which classified group you or your choice for nomination will be representing. We will accept nominations through Friday, March 2; so please do not delay! Voting for Council members will occur after names are collected and we confirm nominees' willingness to serve. A separate email will be sent to the classified staff with the voting instructions. All classified staff members are eligible to vote.
When you participate in opportunities such as this, you become a voice that can make a difference! Classified staff involvement on University committees is increasing and we are grateful for your willingness to serve as you give your time and talents to campus life. Please consider nominating yourself or another for membership to the Classified Staff Advisory Council.
