|Details: Selected areas within the realm of material and popular culture in the United States will be studied. Topics will vary but may include advertising, art, songs, etc. Material culture is the realm of three- dimensional objects that make up our everyday environment. Popular culture is the sum of ideas, activities and fads that have been or are part of our lives. This course examines how these two areas have developed in the course of U.S. history and their impact on the development of our culture. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor.
