Total Wage and Salary Disbursements	Wage and salary disbursements consisting of: the monetary remuneration of employees, including the salaries of corporate officers, commissions, tips, bonuses, and severance pay; employee gains from exercising nonqualified stock options; distributions from nonqualified deferred compensation plans; an imputation for pay-in-kind (such as the meals furnished to the employees of restaurants). Philadelphia FED Coincident Index	The coincident indexes combine four state-level indicators to summarize current economic conditions in a single statistic. The four state-level variables in each coincident index are nonfarm payroll employment, average hours worked in manufacturing, the unemployment rate, and wage and salary disbursements deflated by the consumer price index (U.S. city average). The trend for each state’s index is set to the trend of its gross domestic product (GDP), so long-term growth in the state’s index matches long-term growth in its GDP.	Philadelphia FED
Philadelphia FED Leading Index	The leading index for each state predicts the six-month growth rate of the state's coincident index. In addition to the coincident index, the models include other variables that lead the economy: state-level housing permits (1 to 4 units), state initial unemployment insurance claims, delivery times from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) manufacturing survey, and the interest rate spread between the 10-year Treasury bond and the 3-month Treasury bill.
