UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls
Digital Film and Television (DFT) is a degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF). Students have as many opportunities for scholarly and professional level video-editing projects as their schedules allow and study under award-winning, industry-trained faculty. A full television studio, multiple editing labs, and service learning contracts with Nikon USA and Adobe Systems, INC as well as a location just miles away from Minneapolis and Saint Paul make UWRF's DFT one of the most lucrative and worthwhile film programs in the region.
Employers in the film and television industries are looking for graduates with both precise technical production skills and expressive visionary creativity. Students enrolled in the Digital Film and Television program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls take classes in a well-rounded curriculum. Through a breadth and depth of classroom, television studio, and field experiences, students graduate with a video portfolio that will lead to job opportunities after graduation.
The Digital Film and Television department strongly encourages students to participate in Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Creative Activity (URSCA) on campus, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Every year, Digital Film and Television students receive grant funding through URSCA and present projects at URSCA events such as the Fall Gala and Spring RSCA day. DFT students have also received awards at the regional Emmy awards and presented projects at national conferences such as the Broadcast Educators Association national conference. Internationally, UWRF DFT has a relationship with the Media Management department at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, Germany.
