About Us

The mission of the UWRF Chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is to benefit its members by continually improving its support, promotion and advocacy of the highest quality preparation of professionals in audiology, speech-language pathology and speech and hearing sciences. This student-run organization is open to all undergraduate and graduate students within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
www.nsslha.org.

Why join the UW-River Falls chapter of NSSLHA?

UWRF NSSLHA initiates, promotes and participates in various service events both within the community and on campus. These events include:

  • Participating in the UWRF Health Fair
  • Attending local and national conventions held by MNSHA, WSHA and ASHA
  • Volunteering for events sponsored by local organizations and long-term care facilities
  • Host events on campus to provide education about communication disorders
  • Planning and participating in academic events such as study groups and having professional speakers present at meetings
  • Hearing from current speech-language pathology and audiology graduate student panels to learn about graduate school applications
  • Planning and participating in fundraisers.  Money raised funds students attendance to the Wisconsin Speech-Language and Hearing Association (WSHA) conference, the Minnesota Speech-Language and Hearing Association (MNSHA) conference, or supports the purchases of materials for the University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic
  • Meeting other students in the department through social and academic events
  • Building your resume through volunteer opportunities and executive team responsibilities
  • Saving $225 on ASHA fees upon graduation (must be a national NSSHLA member for the last two years of your graduate program)
