The University of Wisconsin River Falls Risk Management Department is the fundamental source for safety for our campus. Connie Smith director of Risk Management has done an outstanding job to keep our campus safe and out of harms way. Teamed with other faculty and staff in the department Connie currently is in the midst of numerous new projects to improve this campus and its safety efforts.

The chemical inventory project is one of the more recent assignments that has been given to ensure safe use of the chemicals by staff and students throughout campus. Incorporating a new labeling system to ensure that every chemical has a label and a bar-code, this chemical inventory project will increase the accountability of the use of chemicals, keep track of usage and disposals, and reconcile with an online database of MSDS's (material safety data sheets). In addition this project will give a brief summary of the hazards assimilated with the chemical by having a short description with the bar-coded label. Overall this project is to ensure that students and staff are more aware of the chemicals that they are working with in their environments, as well to comply with OSHA standards for our campus.
