Master of Science in Education in Counseling

The Counseling program prepares graduate students to work as professional counselors in diverse PK-16 school settings. Upon graduation, students will have a Master of Science in Education which contributes to their professional qualifications.

Admission Requirements

To be considered as candidates, applicants must submit the following materials: 

  • A resumé
  • A completed UWRF online application for graduate study (apply online)
  • Payment of application fee
  • A written letter of interest, following the format described on the Counseling and School Psychology web site, using this form
  • Transcripts from undergraduate and graduate schools attended (submitted directed to the Admissions office from the institution) showing a minimum GPA of 2.75 (exceptions may be made under special circumstances)
  • Three letters of recommendation, following the format described on the Counseling and School Psychology web site.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are not required but will be considered if official results are submitted. 

The program faculty does not formally interview applicants. Prospective students are encouraged to contact Caroline Baker, department chair, by email or by calling (715) 425-3237 to speak about the program.

A complete application, fee and materials received and postmarked on or before February 1 will be considered for the following fall term and on or before October 1 will be considered for the following spring term. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
