Beginning September 1, 2011 the state of Wisconsin changed the testing requirement for World Language teacher licensing. Wisconsin will continue to accept passing scores for Praxis II® exams for French, German, or Spanish that were completed before 9/1/2011 but exams completed after that date will not be accepted for Wisconsin licensing.
The content exam for world languages will be offered through the American Council for Teachers of Foreign Language (ACTFL) and administered by Language Testing International (LTI). The specific exam are:
The ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) - in either French, German, or Spanish
The ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) - in either French, German or Spanish
These exams do not use traditional "cut scores" but instead measure a candidates language proficiency based on the following scale:
Superior
Advanced High
Advanced Mid
Advanced Low
Intermediate High <- Wisconsin minimum level of proficiency
Intermediate Mid
Intermediate Low
Novice High
Novice Mid
Novice Low
