Accounting measures and communicates business performance information, encourages investment activity, creates new jobs and helps the economy to achieve sustainable growth.  

Accountants are the financial gatekeepers of the business world. Businesses recognize that accounting is fundamental to overall strategic success and accounting professionals are uniquely positioned for leadership roles.

Mission

The mission of the Accounting Program is to help students learn about accounting to prepare them for a mix of accounting professional activities, including public accounting, governmental accounting and corporate accounting. 

Quality undergraduate teaching and learning is the top priority of the accounting program. The program supports the missions of CBE and UWRF by contributing expertise in accounting.

Learning Outcomes

Accounting graduates will be able to:

  • Use financial statements to make decisions.
  • Help managers make decisions using internal and external information.
  • Evaluate accounting systems.
  • File tax returns for individuals and businesses.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing.

Accounting and finance faculty members are both academically and professionally qualified. Faculty members have business experience and are active in professional associations. Faculty members stay current through research and consulting activities. All accounting faculty members have credentials as Certified Public Accountants and one is also a Certified Management Accountant.
