FAQ and Advisor Info

FAQs

Q: What is a Degree Audit Report (DAR) and how do I use it?
A: A Degree Audit Report (DAR) provides a record of your academic progress toward completion of a specific degree program. It incorporates all your transfer coursework as well as your UW-River Falls coursework, including in-progress courses, to evaluate the completion of the requirements for your degree. Please review your DAR prior to each academic advising appointment.

Q: What do I do if I did poorly in a course?
A: You may choose to repeat the course. There are many considerations when choosing to repeat. Consult your advisor if you have questions about if a repeat will benefit you.

Q: Will my advisor stay the same throughout my time at UWRF?
A: No. After completing ~45 credits you will be transferred to a faculty advisor within your specific area of study.

Q: How do I obtain my registration PIN each semester?
A: Every semester you will meet with you advisor to discuss your next semester plan. Your advisor will provide you with your registration PIN during this appointment.

Q: How do I contact my advisor?
A: The official form of communication is your UWRF email.

Q: How do I add or drop a class?
A: All of the information regarding adding and dropping a course may be found here

Q: How do I change my major?
A: If you are changing to another major within the School of Business and Economics, please email your advisor or stop into the Deans Office Suite in 124 South Hall. If you are changing your major outside of the School of Business and Economics, you will need to contact the appropriate department chair.

Q: How do I obtain a copy of my transcript?
A: You may obtain your unofficial transcript via eSIS. For your official transcript, more information can be found here.

Q: Can a single course fulfill more than one requirement?
A: Yes. For example, a course that counts in your major can also fulfill one or more general education or university requirements. (Ask your advisor in your next meeting!)

Q: What is SBE 100?
A: SBE 100 is the first year seminar for the School of Business and Economics and is a requirement of all SBE majors. The course will help you explore your individual strengths, identify success strategies, develop an academic plan and explore different majors and career paths.

Jessica Kielcheski

Hello Falcons!

My name is Jessica Kielcheski and serve as the Academic Advisor for the College of Business and Education. My goal as your advisor is to support you as you navigate your educational path and assist you in making the most of your UWRF experience.
About Me:
I’m a UW - Stout alumna with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management and a minor in Business Administration. I’ve also earned a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration from UW - La Crosse. After grad school, I spent 5 years in Denver before moving “back home” to Wisconsin. I come to UWRF after serving another 5 years in the Involvement Center at UW – Stout.
In my free time, I enjoy trying new restaurants, hiking, kayaking, and listening to a good true crime podcast. I’m also a proud sorority member, wife and mother to a beautiful daughter and sweet fur-baby.

My Strengths:
Maximizer – I actively look for the potential in others and tend to focus more on strengths rather than weaknesses.
Connectedness – I live by the motto “everything happens for a reason” and I naturally see how pieces come together to form a bigger picture or idea.
Relator – I enjoy building relationships and I’m eager to understand the feelings, goals, fears and dreams of others.
Belief – My core values are the driving force behind everything I do and are deeply rooted in altruism.
Learner – I appreciate the journey of learning and improving as much as I do the destination.

I look forward to connecting with you and learning more about your interests, strengths and career goals! I’m here to help, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
