Accounting Admission Requirements

For all majors in the College of Business and Economics:

Completion of at least 27 required general education credits with a minimum GPA of 2.25.

Students with general education GPAs between 2.0 and 2.25 may petition to the CBE Assistant Dean for consideration on a case-by-case basis.

For admission to Accounting major:

The courses listed below must be completed, or in progress for completion, during the semester preceding admission.

Minimum GPA of 2.50* in ACCT 231, 232; ECON 201, 202; CSIS 215; ECON 205 or MATH 156 or MATH 166; ECON 226 or MATH 226; CSTA 116 or ENGL 266; CBE 100.

*The minimum GPA requirement for students entering UWRF prior to Fall 2008-09 is 2.25.

Formal Admission to CBE is required for enrollment in CBE upper-level courses.  Admission application forms are available in the CBE Office or can be printed from the link in the following column.

 CBE Global Perspective Requirement:

(Starting with the 2011-12 Catalog Year)

In preparation for working in a competitive international environment, all CBE majors must complete at least one global perspective experience, for example,

  • Attendance at an international event or speaker on or off campus.
  • Educational travel outside of the United States.
  • Study of a second language.

Each CBE student must submit a one-page summary in LiveText (e-portfolio) describing and reflecting on the international experience before applying for admission to upper-level CBE courses.  Each CBE student must also complete a course for the UWRF Global Perspectives requirement and submit a short reflective paragraph in LiveText.

Upper-Level Transfer Course Policy

Undergraduate students majoring in Accounting or Business Administration may not transfer more than six credits of 300/400 level courses from non-AACSB accredited programs and institutions into the major.
