UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls
Sunday, September 29-Sunday, October 6, 2013
For the last 26 years, more than 3,500 UWRF students have participated in the Wisconsin in Scotland program at Dalkeith Palace in Dalkeith, Scotland. By popular demand, UWRF and the UWRF Alumni Association are offering a week long opportunity for UWRF alumni to visit Dalkeith Palace led by Chancellor Dean and Mary Van Galen.
The group will be limited to 40 individuals on a first-come, first-serve basis. The tour group will depart the US on Sunday, September 29, 2013 and return on Sunday, October 6 with add-on packages available. The County Hotel in Dalkeith will be the base of operations – only a short 0.25 mile walk from Dalkeith Palace.
Advance planning highlights of the trip include:
• Six nights in Dalkeith
• Arrival night dinner with UWRF students studying at Dalkeith
• Morning educational sessions with faculty in residence and leading Scottish scholars
• Day trips including lunch at Bowhill, the residence of the Duke of Buccluech
• Day trip to the North Sea
• Melrose Abbey and Sir Walter Scott’s home
• Free time in Edinburgh
A ground only package is being offered by the university with participants responsible for separately reserving and paying for air transportation. The ground only package – including hotel accommodations, airport transfers from Edinburgh airport, morning breakfasts, most lunches and 3 dinners, and day trip coach transportation – is expected to be $1,750 per person (depending on prevailing exchange rates in October 2013).
To reserve your spot, please register online (see link below). Deposits are refundable until March 1, 2013. If you have questions about the trip, please call Katie Koets, Chris Mueller or Dan McGinty at (715) 425-3505.
I hope that you will be able to join us on this most incredible week in Scotland!
