Health Insurance Marketplace Notice

UW-River Falls will provide a Health Insurance Marketplace Notice to each newly hired employee at the same time the I-9 form is completed.
The UW-River Falls Chancellor issues this policy in accordance with the Administrative Policy process.
The ACBF is responsible for the administration of this policy. Request an exception to this policy from the Administrative Policies website (http://www.uwrf.edu/Administration/Policy/).
Failure to adhere to the provisions of this policy may result in appropriate disciplinary action as provided under existing procedures applicable to students, faculty, and staff, and/or civil or criminal prosecution.
All newly hired employees must receive a Health Insurance Marketplace notice within 14 days of hire. UW-River Falls will be responsible for providing this notice to the employee. The notice will be delivered at the time the I-9 form is completed. The exception will be the employee who does not come to HR or to the campus but provides the I-9 through another method. Those employees will receive the notification either via work e-mail or U.S. mail.
The University of Wisconsin system will provide Affordable Care Act information and notice through its website.
Human Resources will provide a paper copy of the marketplace notice to newly hired employees at the time the I-9 form is completed. Student employment department payroll coordinators will provide the marketplace notice at the time the student employee's I-9 form is completed. Beginning in 2014, the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires most everyone to obtain health insurance for themselves and their dependents or pay a penalty when filing their tax returns. The Marketplace (also known as the Exchange) is a new option for people to obtain health insurance.
The University of Wisconsin is required to provide all employees with a Notice of the availability of the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Notice also includes required information on health insurance coverage available through employment at the University of Wisconsin (UW).
Employees who choose state group health insurance through employment at the UW do not need to enroll through the marketplace or take any action unless by choice.
