Leadership Development

Multicultural Student Services (MSS) believes that your college experience should include co-curricular opportunities to engage and challenge you to grow academically and personally. MSS works closely with various campus partners to develop meaningful leadership development opportunities for you. Check them out!

Current Opportunities

Volunteer to be on an Admissions student panel

MSS works closely with the Admissions office to share resources and student experiences at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UW-River Falls) with prospective students.  For more information on Multicultural Outreach efforts – please go to https://www.uwrf.edu/Admissions/Freshmen/multicultural.cfm

Diversity Summit

The Diversity Summit provides an opportunity for identity based student organizations leaders to connect and build community.  Meetings are held monthly with a goal of networking, collaborating and sharing information and events, and creating a community for students with racially diverse identities.

Conferences

American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC)

MSS selects and brings a group of UW-River Falls students to this annual conference, organized and held at a different UW-school every year in the spring semester. AMSLC is highly engaging, eye-opening, and provides students with an opportunity to discuss relevant issues impacting their student experience, as well as network with other college students and keynote speakers.

The 2015 AMSL conference is held at UW-Eau Claire:  http://www.uwec.edu/Multicultural/AMSLC2015.htm

National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE)

MSS selects and brings two UW-River Falls' students to this annual conference in May.  Students selected to attend NCORE will maximize their learning experience by processing and presenting about their NCORE experience to the campus community during the following fall semester, collaborating with the leaders of identify-based student clubs/orgs on programming initiatives, and working closely with MSS to develop and expand multicultural efforts on campus.

The 2015 NCORE conference is held in Washington DC:  https://www.ncore.ou.edu/2015/
