McNair Scholars Application Process

Eligibility Requirements:

To determine eligibility in McNair Scholars Program, students must be:   

From a family that qualifies as low income (taxable income below 150% of the current federally-determined poverty level) and be a first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian obtained a Bachelor's degree), to determine low income status use your 2010 tax return

OR

A member of a group that is historically under represented at the doctoral level. The Department of Education defines these groups as Black (non-Hispanic), Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaskan Native, and, in some fields, women.

 

Eligible applicants MUST also be:

  • Citizens or nationals of the US, or a permanent resident 
  • Currently enrolled or accepted for admission to UW-River Falls 
  • Transfer students are encouraged to apply

 

Eligible applicants will meet the following academic criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred 
  • 45-60 Credits Completed
