Many students live with a medical, physical, sensory, or brain related issue that significantly challenge the ability to pursue a college education. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that can apply to those circumstances.
ADA can allow these students alternative ways to participate in the learning, working, and living opportunities at UWRF. The alternative methods are often called accommodations. For instance, if a brain issue makes it very difficult to write lecture notes, students may receive copies of a professor or classmate's lecture notes. It's important to understand the goal isn't to ensure these students will be successful. The goal is to ensure they can have equal access and opportunity.
