Many students live with a medical, physical, sensory, or brain related issue that significantly challenge the ability to pursue a college education. Under those circumstances a federal civil rights law can provide support. The law is often referred to as ADA.
This law can create alternative ways for these students to participate in the learning, working, and living opportunities at UWRF. The different methods are often called an accommodation. For instance, an accommodation can be the ability to receive copies of lecture notes if the issue makes it very difficult to independently take good notes.
It's important to understand this is not intended to ensure these students will be successful. The goal is to ensure they can have equal access and opportunity.
